
Somebody needs to do the New York Times a favor and burn every copy of their publishing stylebook left on the planet.
It’s bad enough they put periods in the word “CEO” … but then they have to stick an apostrophe in front of the letter “s” when they pluralize it? Why? It just hurts my eyes to look at it.
I know they think they’re being dignified and old-fashioned with this stuff but really it’s just stupid.
Hey NYT - you have color photographs now, and a website, and even blogs and shit. Welcome to the 21st century! So why not modernize your damn publishing styles while you’re at it?
Mr. Hippity is apparently displeased with the NYT’s style. Would Mr. Hippity prefer the Times use the AP style guide or simply adhere to the more sensible edicts issued by Mr. Strunk and Mr. White?
No, seriously though, you’re totally right. I used all those “misters” above because I find that form of address to be one of the NYT’s more irritating stylistic tics.
